The development of Testing and Metrology (hereinafter „RSaM“ - Slovak abbr. / DTandM - English abbr.) is a program realized by UNMS SR, Testing and Metrology Department aimed at supporting activities related with conformity assessment of designated products in the first place, improving quality of services provided by authorized and notified bodies within the Slovak Republic, increasing knowledgeability of professionals in the scope of designated and non-designated products conformity assessment, increasing their legal awareness.
Equally, on the terms of placing products on the market within European Economic Area, on the terms of placing products from third countries on the market, technical requirements on products in a sense of particular New Approach regulations and national legal regulations.
The program RSaM /DTandM is aimed at increasing consumers´ knowledgeability on legal regulations related to conformity assessment, technical requirements for products, their designation, increasing consumers‘ awareness in purchasing designated products, possibilities of obtaining information from various sources and the like.
The plan of Testing and Metrology Department arises from the needs of conformity assessment system, primarily from the needs of providing activities and single procedure of authorized or, more precisely, notified bodies (hereinafter “AB/NB“), whereas needs for foreign cooperation are also considered.
A legal or natural person that has a registered seat in the Slovak Republic and is commissioned by UNMS SR to carry out conformity assessment procedure, may be included in the program of DTandM (RSaM).
The program of DTandM (RSaM) is divided into the following three areas according to its focus:
- International Cooperation
- Methodics
- Education and Promotion
The purpose of methodical regulation is to provide transparency and single procedure of the Office of Standards, Metrology and Testing of the Slovak Republic in announcing particular assignments within the Testing and Metrology Development Program, and equal terms for each solver (elaborator) of an assignment.
Methodical approach of DTandM (RSaM) is obligatory for all elaborators of Testing and Metrology Development assignments
